The best part of Christmas for me is the giving. Yea the getting part is nice but I love seeing the look on peoples faces when they open their gifts. Our Christmas was just fantastic. It was so much fun this year with Delilah able to open presents (and being more interested in them than she was at her birthday!). Christmas Eve we visited John's parents. They got Delilah a Fisher Price Laugh n Learn sweeper, two outfits, gripper socks, & a dog puppet that bark sings 3 songs & Little People zoo train thing. We also stopped in at his grandma's for a much needed visit. She got Delilah a fur real friends puppy. It's really cute and we don't even have to let it out! Ha! Christmas Day- opening scene the front living room with presents galore under the tree (ok maybe there wasn't that many...). We started off with Delilah's presents. First I opened her card & read it to her as she struggled to slip out of my arms. She was so not interested. Then we started ...

Merry Christmas to our family & friends! Much love, Elizabeth, John & Delilah

Today John, Delilah & I went to visit my friend Jess & her son for our Christmas exchange. We just bought for the kids to simplify things. We got Hughie this really neat Hotwheels Car Crusher toy (hard to explain but you'll see the picture below). Jess got Delilah this adorable outfit- it's a purple hoodie with Dora The Explorer on the front and matching pants. And a pink shirt with some designs on it to match. So stinkin' cute! Hughie & Delilah were being so cute together too- they were giving each other kisses and Delilah kept leaning over so Hughie could give her kisses on the cheek. After our visit we went to meet my mom at Curv.es to pick up the stockings that we had made for Delilah & John. They are amazing and just as beautiful as I imagined if not better. Hughie opening the present we got him Delilah & I opening her present- thanks Jess & Hughie! The stockings

Blanket eater

Image
I've taken up a new project- knitting Delilah a new blanket. Why? Because she's ruining the one I made to bring her home in. For some reason or another she likes to eat the fuzzies off of it. No she doesn't pick them off of it & eat it. She sticks the blanket in her mouth & tears off a piece of yarn fuzz to eat. So last night I embarked upon the making of a new blanket. This week I have off of work- I am sooo ecstatic to have a week straight with my family... no work! Yay!! Today I will be going in- it's our Christmas luncheon & Delilah hasn't been in in a few weeks so we're going to visit & eat. Visit? Not sure that's the right word heh The rest of the day (and week) is busy busy. Hair appointment today, a visit with Jess & her son tomorrow, William.sport with Ash for a girl's day Wednesday, a visit with Ash & her family Thursday afternoon & Jon's family Thursday night. Then Christmas Friday! I am sooo excited to give Del...
Delilah amazes me each & every day. It's like she knows when we need a laugh because she does something so cute & funny that it makes me forget our problems if only for a minute. Last night she was having chicken nuggets for supper & decided to put a piece of one on top of her head. She thought it was the funniest thing & it gave daddy and I a laugh too. Then today John kind of had his back to her while making lunch. He turned around & she had the biggest grin on her face. She had put a puffy on her head & just thought it was soo funny. She is the cutest lil lady- I love her dearly & thank God that she's in our lives. P.S. Miracles ~d0~ happen. Congrats Misty! Praying super hard for a sticky bean!
Same old, same old here... John hasn't gotten a job yet or an interview... I'm feeling all depressed & the money demon is sitting on my shoulders ripping out my hair... *sigh* I need a kick in the butt & to remember to be thankful for what we do have. Delilah, our health, our home, each other, my family, our friends... and all the little things that make you stop & think, yea that's awesome.

Delilah got her 7th tooth in today! That would probably explain her fever the other week and the bit of a rash she got (we we thought was from her 1 year shots). I was feeding her at supper and trying to work with her on using a spoon. She had the spoon at the moment & opened her mouth to take a bite. I caught a glimpse of something white next to her left lower front tooth so I took the spoon & tried to get her to open her mouth again. And there it was! She is so cute sometimes it's almost sickening ;-) Tonight when John was dressing her for bed she smacked her tummy. She does this thing (as explained in a post below) where she'll lift up John's shirt exposing his belly and smack it. John had just gotten her onesie off & she started smacking on her tummy tum. So cute! Pudding- yum! A visit to Gram & PapPap Williams'

Yesterday Delilah ate spaghetti all by herself for the first time! You see she doesn't like macaroni- unless it's mac n cheese so we couldn't just give her cooked noodles with sauce because she wouldn't eat it. So when she did try spaghetti we'd just cut it up & feed it to her with a fork. Last night she would have none of that. Not even the slightest little bit. So I put some on her tray to see if she'd even eat it. I thought it'd just end up on the floor but she actually picked it up & ate it! Tonight I was reading to Delilah when she pulled up my shirt exposing my tummy (she likes to lift her daddy's shirt up & smack him on the belly- or pull out his belly button lint ;-D ). I wasn't even really paying attention thinking she'd either just smack it or be distracted by something else. And that was when I felt it.... She was giving me belly farts! Or trying to anyway LoL It was so stinkin' cute- John & I give her belly farts l...

Xerox is doing something cool

I received the text below as a forward at work and thought it was important enough to post here. A former friend of mine was sent overseas and while I haven't heard from him in a long time I think about him quite frequently. Over wherever he may be now hoping he is safe & sound. I miss him greatly & wish I could talk to him again one more time. Please take a minute to go pick out a card for one of the many soldiers who have risked their lives to make us safe. If for nothing else- do it in Christmas spirit. "If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it to be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? This takes just 10 seconds and...

So sweet

Delilah blew kisses to her stuffed moose today!

At Delilah's pediatrician appointment her dr said that we could let Delilah start practicing using a spoon. And that's just what we did. On Tuesday at dinner time I got out some applesauce & handed Delilah a spoon. She actually did very well with it considering- she got the spoon in her mouth 2 times without my help. And it actually had applesauce on it! We had a very lovely pre-Thanksgiving dinner at Ash & Jon's. Delilah was being shy and did not want to leave my side. She wouldn't even play unless she was like right by my feet. She's been super clingy since last Sunday for some reason and she also wanted nothing to do with John when I'm around. I think it's a phase. Thursday we had a nice, peaceful Thanksgiving dinner at my parents'. Delilah refused to eat any turkey or mashed potatoes. She also wanted nothing to do with her Gerber meal of pasta n stars and green beans.

1 year pedi appointment

Image
Delilah had her 1 year appointment today- to say it went well would be an exaggeration. The minute I started undressing her to get her weight she started crying. You would think we were torturing this little gal that's how loud her screams rang through the hallways :-\ After her height, weight & temp were taken we were able to comfort her. Her pedi came in but because mom still had her & the "weird lady" wasn't coming near her she was fine. We talked about her development, nutrition, & height and weight. Then it was on to the exam. I sat up on the exam table holding her. As soon as the pedi even came near her she turned her body towards me & lay her head on my shoulder. Her pedi listened to her lungs & then attempted to listen to her heart. As soon as she tried to put the stethoscope on her chest she started crying. After a belly check, hip check, "area" check and reflex check the check up was over. Now we wait for the dreaded shots- on t...

All quiet on the family front- nothing much new happening. Delilah took the most steps today she's taken so far- I was quite proud of her :-D Yesterday I went to Walmart to get a few things as well as a Christmas dress for Delilah and a toy or two with the gift card my friend Jess gave Delilah for her birthday. I found the most perfect dress however they only had ones 18 months & up >:-\ If there were 12 month ones they were gone. I did however find some toys for Delilah. I've been looking for a doo.dle pro- you know those things where they can draw on them & erase with the swipe of a button? I thought since she likes to write on paper with a pen this would be a good buy for her. It wasn't a doo.dle pro exactly but a knock off. I also got her a shape sorter thing and a pop-up toy (the one where there are switches or buttons that make an animal- or whatever- pop up). I got home and tried to doo.dle pro out- yea it was a piece of crap! As soon as you wrote on it it...

First Steps

Delilah took her first steps today! John & I were at the computer and Delilah was in the living room (we have a double living room setup). John looked over & Delilah had taken two steps toward him :-D Then later I was sitting on the floor with Delilah and she took a few more steps towards her balloon. Big girl :-)

This shirt is from my Aunt Janet (3-6 months!) and we never got to really wear it so I put it on her today. Delilah & Daddy playing with a balloon

26 years ago today (now w/pics!)

Image
26 years ago today I was brought in to this world. At 9:01 a.m. exactly I graced my parents lives and they graced mine. My mom went in to labor with me Sunday November 6th. She had contractions throughout the day but even at my dad's suggestion didn't call the doctor. It wasn't until later that day when my grandma suggested mom call the doctor that my mom called the doctor. Mom went in to the hospital, checked in, and labored with me until the next morning. It's so different from nowadays- they had mom laying flat on her back (a no-no today) with a monitor strapped around her. All she can really remember as far as painkillers is that she got a shot in her butt LoL Dad had left for the night and the next morning when mom was ready to push Dad hadn't been called yet! Mom kept asking them to call him so he could get there & they kept saying they'd call him. Finally after mom asked again if Dad was called (and they said no) she was like call him now! He made it ...

Silly antics

Delilah always finds ways to make us laugh. Two things occurred- one yesterday & one today- that make me giggle. Yesterday I was changing her poopy diaper. Now when I change her poopy diapers I wipe her hiney with her diaper so there's less poo. Anyway after I did that I was readying a wipe when suddenly Delilah reached her hand around and grabbed a hold of her butt cheek. Of course all the while getting her hand in her crack as well. Then today I took Delilah in the room after we were done with lunch. I went to put her down to play when she let out a huge belch. That was the loudest burp I have ever heard come out of that little thing. John actually thought it was me! But no not this time. It was our dearest little stink. Also today Delilah drew her first drawing! Usually we let her play with a pen (while supervised & it's capped- no clicky ones) and today I was making a list for Targ.et. I let her have the pen I was writing with to see if she'd write on the paper...
The other day Delilah & I were laying on the bed (well I was laying down and Delilah was kneeling in the crook of my right arm) when for some reason or another she flopped forward & smacked her forehead in to my left arm. I said "Ow! That hurt." and she did the sweetest thing... she looked at my arm, leaned forward & gave it a kiss! This getting older thing just gets better and better (well in some departments). Then today I was sitting on the couch with her when I asked her if I could have a hug- and she gave me one (boy do I need emoticons!)! Delilah officially has 6 teeth. Last Wednesday John found her 5th tooth with the 6th just around the corner. Sunday I discovered her 6th had finally broken through & joined the 5th. So I say that things get better and better in some departments and not others because well Delilah bites herself. Yes, she bites herself. When she gets mad- like if I try to make her take a bite of something but she doesn't want it and w...

Trick or Treat!!

Image
Saturday was Halloween- along with our anniversary (thank you everyone for the anniversary wishes!). It was a fun filled busy day. First we went to Rub.y Tue.sdays (my friend Jess got us a gift card for an anniversary gift) for lunch and then to visit my friend Jess & her son. Jess's son amazes me- he is so sweet and so gentle with Delilah. At one point he was sitting next to Delilah (Jess was kind of holding her) and she bumped her head in to his face. There was like a 10 second delay & she started crying. I picked her up to comfort her and all the while Hughie (Jess's son) was like "Mommy I'm sorry it was an accident." And it wasn't even his fault! Aww!! He always says such adorable things to her. He'd put his hand on her cheek and say "You are so cute!" We had a really nice visit but unfortunately had to cut it short to get Delilah home for a nap so she could hand out candy with us. After our visit with Jess we stopped in to my parents...

4 years ago today

Four years ago today- at 7 p.m.- I became Mrs. Elizabeth Williams. John and I first met in 2000- I was 16 going on 17 (Sound of Music anyone?) and he had just turned 20. A mutual friend gave me his AIM screen name and I IMd him. A few weeks after talking online (it was delayed because he got mono) we decided to meet. He picked me up at my parents' house (a little late because he got a little lost) and off we went to Magic River Skateland (in my defense I didn't know what else to do LoL). I liked him so much from the beginning- I can remember sitting there at a table at Magic River when my foot touched his. It was like electric. Anyway as the old cliche goes... And then it was history. 4 years later he proposed and while I can't say it was the most romantic proposal, it's one I won't ever forget. 1 year later and we were married. It was an awesome wedding held on our favorite holiday- Halloween! I wore a black knee length dress with silver accents, a black cape, fish...

Hair color

Image
So as you all know I am trying to go back to my original hair color because although I love, love, love the black hair I am sick of having to dye it all the time. I had a hair appointment on Tuesday & got new color and a bit of a new cut. Without further ado my new hair color... From black, to reddish, to brownish... next step highlights.

On to Poe Valley!

Image
Sunday, instead of going to my parents for dinner like we usually do (mom had to have a "procedure" & couldn't eat anything but jello) we went to Poe Valley. This year it didn't seem as relaxing- but that could be because I fell and didn't have enough water that morning. Anyway we got there & parked. We walked down by the water but it was super muddy. Like couldn't even walk in it because it's that deep mud. Anyway, I spied a tree that I decided to take Delilah to look at. I stepped over in to this grassy area and then across the mud to the tree. Well the ground near the tree was muddy- slippery muddy and as I stepped upon it I went down. Delilah thankfully was just fine and I was too essentially. I scraped my arm a smidgen, scraped my knee a little, and hurt my right shoulder. O and my knees were nice & muddy too >:-\ Ah well... the rest of the trip was nice & we got some really cute pics of Delilah.

Birthday Fun (now with pics!)

Image
Yesterday was Delilah's 1st birthday- and with that came her first birthday party! Let's first start with after she woke up. We had her open the presents we got her- I tried to get her to tear at the paper but she wasn't up for it. We got her a Fisher Price Laugh n Learn kitchen, a Fisher Price tea party set (the teapot talks, sings, etc. and it comes with two teacups and a plate with 3 shapes that look like desserts), a magical fairy shoe cottage (so cute!) and a Plumpee bumble bee (a stuffed animal). Around 9:00 it was up for a nap. Prior to her party I had to make a little run to get some balloons and a pit stop to Walm .art. I went to Walma .rt before I picked up the balloons to exchange a frame I had purchased the night before for a birthday poster I made (the one I got the night before was broken!). This one thankfully was fully intact. After that it was off to CA Re.ed for a foil balloon ( ok , ok I got two. I had to!) and then home to begin the decorating (this en...
