So sweet

Delilah blew kisses to her stuffed moose today!

At Delilah's pediatrician appointment her dr said that we could let Delilah start practicing using a spoon. And that's just what we did. On Tuesday at dinner time I got out some applesauce & handed Delilah a spoon. She actually did very well with it considering- she got the spoon in her mouth 2 times without my help. And it actually had applesauce on it! We had a very lovely pre-Thanksgiving dinner at Ash & Jon's. Delilah was being shy and did not want to leave my side. She wouldn't even play unless she was like right by my feet. She's been super clingy since last Sunday for some reason and she also wanted nothing to do with John when I'm around. I think it's a phase. Thursday we had a nice, peaceful Thanksgiving dinner at my parents'. Delilah refused to eat any turkey or mashed potatoes. She also wanted nothing to do with her Gerber meal of pasta n stars and green beans.

1 year pedi appointment

Image
Delilah had her 1 year appointment today- to say it went well would be an exaggeration. The minute I started undressing her to get her weight she started crying. You would think we were torturing this little gal that's how loud her screams rang through the hallways :-\ After her height, weight & temp were taken we were able to comfort her. Her pedi came in but because mom still had her & the "weird lady" wasn't coming near her she was fine. We talked about her development, nutrition, & height and weight. Then it was on to the exam. I sat up on the exam table holding her. As soon as the pedi even came near her she turned her body towards me & lay her head on my shoulder. Her pedi listened to her lungs & then attempted to listen to her heart. As soon as she tried to put the stethoscope on her chest she started crying. After a belly check, hip check, "area" check and reflex check the check up was over. Now we wait for the dreaded shots- on t...

All quiet on the family front- nothing much new happening. Delilah took the most steps today she's taken so far- I was quite proud of her :-D Yesterday I went to Walmart to get a few things as well as a Christmas dress for Delilah and a toy or two with the gift card my friend Jess gave Delilah for her birthday. I found the most perfect dress however they only had ones 18 months & up >:-\ If there were 12 month ones they were gone. I did however find some toys for Delilah. I've been looking for a doo.dle pro- you know those things where they can draw on them & erase with the swipe of a button? I thought since she likes to write on paper with a pen this would be a good buy for her. It wasn't a doo.dle pro exactly but a knock off. I also got her a shape sorter thing and a pop-up toy (the one where there are switches or buttons that make an animal- or whatever- pop up). I got home and tried to doo.dle pro out- yea it was a piece of crap! As soon as you wrote on it it...

First Steps

Delilah took her first steps today! John & I were at the computer and Delilah was in the living room (we have a double living room setup). John looked over & Delilah had taken two steps toward him :-D Then later I was sitting on the floor with Delilah and she took a few more steps towards her balloon. Big girl :-)

This shirt is from my Aunt Janet (3-6 months!) and we never got to really wear it so I put it on her today. Delilah & Daddy playing with a balloon

26 years ago today (now w/pics!)

26 years ago today I was brought in to this world. At 9:01 a.m. exactly I graced my parents lives and they graced mine. My mom went in to labor with me Sunday November 6th. She had contractions throughout the day but even at my dad's suggestion didn't call the doctor. It wasn't until later that day when my grandma suggested mom call the doctor that my mom called the doctor. Mom went in to the hospital, checked in, and labored with me until the next morning. It's so different from nowadays- they had mom laying flat on her back (a no-no today) with a monitor strapped around her. All she can really remember as far as painkillers is that she got a shot in her butt LoL Dad had left for the night and the next morning when mom was ready to push Dad hadn't been called yet! Mom kept asking them to call him so he could get there & they kept saying they'd call him. Finally after mom asked again if Dad was called (and they said no) she was like call him now! He made it ...

Silly antics

Delilah always finds ways to make us laugh. Two things occurred- one yesterday & one today- that make me giggle. Yesterday I was changing her poopy diaper. Now when I change her poopy diapers I wipe her hiney with her diaper so there's less poo. Anyway after I did that I was readying a wipe when suddenly Delilah reached her hand around and grabbed a hold of her butt cheek. Of course all the while getting her hand in her crack as well. Then today I took Delilah in the room after we were done with lunch. I went to put her down to play when she let out a huge belch. That was the loudest burp I have ever heard come out of that little thing. John actually thought it was me! But no not this time. It was our dearest little stink. Also today Delilah drew her first drawing! Usually we let her play with a pen (while supervised & it's capped- no clicky ones) and today I was making a list for Targ.et. I let her have the pen I was writing with to see if she'd write on the paper...
The other day Delilah & I were laying on the bed (well I was laying down and Delilah was kneeling in the crook of my right arm) when for some reason or another she flopped forward & smacked her forehead in to my left arm. I said "Ow! That hurt." and she did the sweetest thing... she looked at my arm, leaned forward & gave it a kiss! This getting older thing just gets better and better (well in some departments). Then today I was sitting on the couch with her when I asked her if I could have a hug- and she gave me one (boy do I need emoticons!)! Delilah officially has 6 teeth. Last Wednesday John found her 5th tooth with the 6th just around the corner. Sunday I discovered her 6th had finally broken through & joined the 5th. So I say that things get better and better in some departments and not others because well Delilah bites herself. Yes, she bites herself. When she gets mad- like if I try to make her take a bite of something but she doesn't want it and w...

Trick or Treat!!

Saturday was Halloween- along with our anniversary (thank you everyone for the anniversary wishes!). It was a fun filled busy day. First we went to Rub.y Tue.sdays (my friend Jess got us a gift card for an anniversary gift) for lunch and then to visit my friend Jess & her son. Jess's son amazes me- he is so sweet and so gentle with Delilah. At one point he was sitting next to Delilah (Jess was kind of holding her) and she bumped her head in to his face. There was like a 10 second delay & she started crying. I picked her up to comfort her and all the while Hughie (Jess's son) was like "Mommy I'm sorry it was an accident." And it wasn't even his fault! Aww!! He always says such adorable things to her. He'd put his hand on her cheek and say "You are so cute!" We had a really nice visit but unfortunately had to cut it short to get Delilah home for a nap so she could hand out candy with us. After our visit with Jess we stopped in to my parents...
