Knoebels- fun, food & not really any fantasy LoL

Image
So we went to Knoebels with Ash & the boys and my mom & dad on Sunday. It was so fun! First we all went to eat at this place by the Flume- the food was decent but the prices were not. Afterwards we headed to the Flume to find that it was broken down & some people were stuck at the top! Yikes!! So we headed to the Pheonix. Ashley, John & I went on the Pheonix while my parents so graciously babysat for us. Then we headed back to the Flume to see if it was safe. Shawn didn't want to go on this time so it was just Ashley, John & I again. Shawn however did get to have some fun- my mom & dad let him play this water game that he super loved. And so did not want to stop playing when it was all over. The Haunted House was our next stop. Ashley, Shawn, John & I all went on. At first Shawn wanted to go with "Uncle John" but then he decided he better stick it out with mom. Now some that know me well know that I love scary movies, Halloween, etc., etc. Whic...

Enough is enough

For John & I this whole thing, which happened over the smallest thing but apparently was coming anyway because no one liked me from the beginning, has been over. We did ~nothing~ wrong but stand up for our beliefs to the way we should parent Delilah. No John didn't say anything & yes, he should have. But like Mary said- he could have if "he weren't afraid to". All of this bullshit over me contacting the person who gave Delilah icing & her not being grown up enough to address it with ME. And yes I did move the blog. Why? Because that blog is for DELILAH. For us to share the happiness in her life & the pictures that we took to share with our family & friends. Not for people to come on & attack us and the way we choose to raise our daughter. No I didn't want her to have icing- does that make it wrong for other people to give their children icing? Absolutely not. BUT this is OUR choice. OUR parenting choice & no one elses decision. NO ONE e...

I don't really have anything to blog about today- just some pics to share & a video too :-) Daddy was being silly with the camera Upset because Daddy left the room for a drink And now a little video- it's nothing specific... just Delilah playing

Happy 8 months boo!!

Today Delilah is 8 months old. I can't believe how fast time is flying by!! Happy 8 months my darling daughter :-)

Happy Father's Day!

Image
Happy Father's Day to the most wonderful men in my life... my grandfather, my father, and of course, the father of my child. The most wonderful husband, John. I love you baby- you're the most amazing father to our daughter- I couldn't ask for a better man to share my life with. Today was a wonderful Father's Day- we woke up & gave John his present. I made a photo book on shutterfly with pictures & quotes. We each also gave him a card. Then off to Lowe's to get some more plywood & another dishwasher hose (this part wasn't so wonderful) so we could yet again replace the hose & the floor around the dishwasher. We thought it was fixed yesterday- had the a new sheet of plywood down, plus replacement tiles. Last night John walked out to the kitchen to find water pooling up under his feet again. After looking under the sink & seeing sparks (!)- and turning the electric off- he tore up the tiles & the plywood and ripped the dishwasher back out. T...

Ode to Family & Friends

Image
I found a few quotes last night that I particularly like... What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. -George Eliot A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no aw, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path. - Agatha Christie Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter. - Brad Henry A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. - Walter Winchell So this is to my family & my friends... John- You are the love of my life. I never knew what true happiness was until I met you- you are my other half. You are my soul mate. You are the only person I want to be with for the rest of my life. I know that whatever life throws at us we will handle anything. We can take on anything as long as we're...

No snappy title...

Yay for county holidays :-D Extra yay for having the day with my darling love.... o, and John ;-) Today I woke up with Delilah while John got to sleep in- he deserved it like uber a lot. After giving the boo some puffies this morning we went in to the living room to play a little before her morning nap. I snapped some way cute pics :-) Whoever said this lil babe is miserable? They certainly don't know what a happy picture looks like!! After her morning nap, some sweet corn casserole (the pureed baby kind), some fruit w/oatmeal & some more puffies we headed off to Grammy Hans' house (see pics of the fruit Delilah got on her forehead from going to rub her eyes & the spoon getting in the way- poor thing!). Grammy was kind enough to take a 1/2 day at work to watch Delilah for us while we went to get our hair dyed & cut. Upon returning home John found something just awful... we've been having problems with our POS dishwasher & apparently while we were gone all af...

The Sippy Cup Experiments

Image
We've been trying to work with Delilah on using the sippy cup since it's ~very~ apparent this lil babe won't be taking the bottle... ever. I don't remember what kind we have but they have a rubber spout & John has it rigged up so that she can get water just by tipping it since she doesn't know how to suck on it. Yesterday at Auntie Ashley's, Ash went to give Landon a sippy cup. It's one with a silicone spout that doesn't leak. Water (or whatever you put in it) will only come out when you chew or suck on the end. Auntie let Delilah give it a whirl & Delilah chewed on the end a little- getting some water out I do believe. So, at Walmart today I decided to pick one up since a) the other one isn't working out too well & she just tips it over for the water to come out so she can play in the water mess and b) she just wants to play with it so water will come out & she can play in the water mess LoL When we got home from my parents' we t...

Busy, busy day!

Image
Today was a busy day- in the morning I went over to Ash's to watch the boys while Ash & Jon worked on cleaning out the attic for the big move (which I am so super excited for them for, but also sad because my BF is moving further away :-( ). After that I went home & got John and Delilah to meet Ash & the boys at Friendly's for a yummy lunch and then a trip to the Middleburg pool. OMG the pool was WONDERFUL! It wasn't crowded, there wasn't super rude kids splashing near the babies (well there was one at the end who was splashing at Landon & when Ash told him not to the little sh*t kept doing it anyway until his mom told him to stop- ugh!). Delilah did so much better in the pool than she did Monday and we all had so much fun. After the pool we headed home where Mommy took an hour nap & Delilah played with Daddy. When I woke up I called Ash & we headed over to her house with the giant cupcake John made for Shawn's birthday. Since Delilah already...

Pulling up already!!

My mom sent me this link- check it out & sign the petition if you think it's worth it: http://www.mylifetime.com/my-lifetime-commitment/breast-cancer/petition/breast-cancer-petition Yesterday John called me at work to tell me that Delilah had just pulled herself into a standing position at her sound stage. He took a few pics I thought I would share. My big girl! She ~just~ started crawling- she can't be pulling up for walking yet!!

Yay!! She crawled, she crawled!!

Image
Today is an advancement in Delilah's development- an amazing milestone that I got to witness (but poor daddy didn't :-( I got video though!) and didn't miss out on even though I have to work. That's right folks- Delilah crawled for the first time today! John left for groceries (he seems to be able to spend less money than me LoL) & I was sitting on the floor playing with Delilah. I decided to take a video and while sitting there she crawled off to her sound stage. I couldn't believe she was crawling... AND that I got the very first on video!! I hope I'm lucky enough to get her walking on video like Auntie Ashley got for Shawn :-D I haven't uploaded pics to the computer since at least Saturday & forgot about the pics and videos taken while my parents were visiting (and kindly bringing the new area rug they purchased for us with them). We got some great pics of my dad feeding Delilah & also of Delilah, John & I in the pool. One thing is for sur...
The whole situation beginning with the blog below got ridiculously blown out of proportion. All because of our parenting choices. If you can't accept the way we choose to raise our daughter you can't be a part of her life. Saying to us that she is a miserable child is insulting. You haven't seen her here in her own environment- or at her maternal grandparents' or Aunt & Uncle's. She is the happiest, most perfect little girl. How dare anyone ever say to me or John that she is "weird" because we don't conform & force things upon her that she has no interest in. You don't know John... you don't know me... and you certainly don't know Delilah. You all are losing out on knowing her- we're not losing out on anything. We will take from this & grow. We both know that we did nothing wrong on our part & no one is going to make us feel like we did.

Happy Happy Birthday... to Shawn!!

Today my best's friend first born is a big ol' 3 years young! It hasn't been that great of a birthday for him because the poor guy hasn't been feeling well the entire day. He didn't even wanna swim or play at the pool! This is a rarity for this kiddo 'cause he is a water wizard :-D Happy 3rd Birthday kiddo!! Ahh yes... the pool... we met Ashley & Shawn today at the Mifflinburg pool. It didn't go over very well. We couldn't put Delilah in her floaty thing because she cried so I had to hold her the entire time (I don't mind because that means I get lots of snuggle time!). However we have a little problem with the pool- Delilah now does not like the bath tub. Last night John went to give Delilah a bath & she started crying. We thought maybe it was because I wasn't home to give her a bath with him but we discovered that this was not the case. Tonight when we went to give her a bath- since last night was a bust- I went to place her in the tub ...

Happy First Birthday Monkey Man

Image
Yesterday Landon officially turned 1 year old. 1 year ago yesterday Ashley was in surgery (unfortunately a c-section had to be done) having her baby boy brought in to the world. We are so fortunate to be a part of these boys' lives- I just cannot imagine not being, or having them be, a part of the family. I see Ashley as a parent... she and my own mother are my role models. I strive to be as good of a mother as Ashley is to her sons and as my mother was to me. Happy Birthday Landon! We love you so much! Aunt Lizzy, Uncle John, & Delilah :-* Also yesterday Delilah enjoyed her first bathtime experience in the "grown-up" bath tub. I do believe we'll be giving Delilah her baths in there instead. She was getting too long for the rainforest bath tub anyway. Of course we took pics- so enjoy!!

Puffy Fun

Image
Ok so I've been lacking on the blogging but I've had no motivation... *sigh* Although there are fun things to talk about! Saturday John, Delilah & I headed off to T&D's with Ashley, Shawn & Landon. It was soo fun! We got to see monkeys, feed deer, feed an emu (which Ashley got pecked by when it was taking the food from her LoL), see lions, and tigers and bears! O my!! Prior to we went to Old Turnpike for lunch where Delilah tried her very first puffy!! Banana flavored- yum!! She also tried some orange, had some more lemon, and tried some baked bean juice & sweet corn. Now let me make it clear that we're not in the habit of giving Delilah table foods like that but hey, it was a day for adventure. Sunday was Shawn & Landon's birthday party. It was super fun- we had great food, got to make banana splits & the best part of all was getting to share the day with the kiddos. I was so super excited to give Shawn & Landon their gifts... we got Sha...
