Turkey, Rice & Veggies- Yum! Cottage Cheese- Blech!

Image
Today we tried the 3rd & final meat (that we bought anyway)... Turkey, Rice & Vegetables. She surprisingly didn't make the same faces as the other meats and didn't cry. She still didn't cooperate fully & held the food in her mouth before finally swallowing it. But this time she also laughed about it. For an early supper we met Auntie Ashely, Uncle Jon & the boys at Hoss's. We were going to give her some of the stuff from the salad bar but she doesn't like solid peas so those were out. There was also ham cubes- I wasn't the most comfortable having her try those so those were out too. And there was cheese- also a no, no until she's 1. So she just had her peas (pureed) and peaches. After we were all done with our meals we had some dessert. I went up to the dessert bar and got some ice cream for me and some ice cream for Delilah. That's when I spotted the cottage cheese. I spooned some of that in to a little styrofoam cup. This was the first ...

Vegetable Beef... Big NOOooo!!

Image
Yesterday we tried Vegetable Beef- it was as big of a no as the Chicken Noodle. We tried some more today & she actually got some down. I was so proud! Next is Turkey, Rice & Vegetables. I'm sure that'll get the same response LoL I think we're going to have to go with stage 2 meats for right now. Hmm... We got this magazine in the mail from 1stwishes that has birthday party stuff in it. We found the most adorable theme that I love! It's a cupcake theme. I went to look for it online & I found another cupcake theme that I think is more appropriate for a 1 year birthday party rather than this that looks more for kids a bit older. Anyway here's the original one: And here's the one we're definitely going to get: Vegetable Beef, Day 1- Take 1 Vegetable Beef, Day 2- Take 2

Made by me

My friend Dot posted this on her blog & since I've been in the business of making things lately I wanted to take part :-) "The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me, especially for you. I can be quite the craftly gal so I will make it worth your while. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations: 1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make but I hope you will. 2- What I create will be just for you. 3-They say I have a year to get it to you. But I promise it will NOT take that long. 4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It’s a surprise to both of us at this point. The catch? You must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. So the first five people who post, and are willing to pass it along, will get a handmade gift in the mail from me. When you get it, make sure you post a pic on your blog! Let's have some fun!" Chicken Noodle Nope

Image
After John & I saw Inglourious Basterds today we went to Walmart. We picked up some meats- Chicken Noodle, Beef Stew, Sweet Potatoes & Chicken, and 1 more I can't remember. O and also some canned mixed vegetables. Anyway we got home (to a might I add grumpy Boo who didn't take a nap for Grammy & Pappy), I fed Delilah and then about a 1/2 hour later we took her in the kitchen to feed her her fruit & veggie. I started out with the Chicken Noodle & she did NOT like it. She actually cried! I switched to her fruit & she calmed down. But she promptly got upset when I tried switching back. Then we tried some of the mixed veggies- she did ok with a piece of corn and also did ok with a piece of lima bean. But the peas & green beans were iffy. Ah well- we'll just have to keep trying!

Peas & Carrots

Image
Yesterday we attempted to give Delilah peas & carrots. I had John buy a bag of peas & carrots when he went grocery shopping & we decided to try it out yesterday. I made them in the microwave but it didn't go too hotly. The first try- I put some veggies in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of water (yes, that's what the directions said) and popped them in the microwave for 7 minutes. About 5 minutes & some odd seconds in to it I look in the microwave & notice there's something brown on the carrots. Yea, they're burning to the bottom of the bowl! The second try went a bit better & they seemed to be smushy enough for her. Ehh not so much. So we decided to try again today. This time I made them on the stove. I boiled them for what I thought was long enough to make them kinda smushy. Ehh... today wasn't any better. In fact it was a bit worse LoL A woman at work gave me a suggestion so I don't have to worry about cooking the veggies & them being to...

Bananas!

Image
I'm sure you're thinking- wait, didn't we already do bananas months ago? The answer to that is yes we did but we didn't do a solid banana! Today Delilah had her first taste of a solid banana today. I felt bad but it was funny watching her because the banana was so slippery that she couldn't get a hold of it very well. Tomorrow we're going to try solid peas & carrots. Saturday (after we go see Inglourious Basterds- I'm so excited!) we're going to Walmart to pick up some baby food. But this time we'll be able to get stuff with meat in it. We can also do Yobaby yogurt :-) This is so fun!

9 month well check-up

Image
Delilah's 9 month... well let's make that 9 month & 3 week... appointment was today. Luckily she didn't have to get any shots. But that doesn't mean the appointment went any better LoL She's so good in the waiting room & when we get back to the exam room but as soon as we get her undressed & take her to be weighed the crying starts. I feel so bad for the poor thing. Today was worse than last time. She complained for awhile after the nurse was done while I held her. Of course she was all calmed down when her pediatrician came in. As soon as she went to examine her she started crying again. She also had to get a finger prick to test for anemia. Woo boy I bet the patients in the waiting room thought we were killing her that's how loud she was screaming! Her stats are: Weight 16 lbs 6 oz Height 2'3" Her weight was a little concerning- she's only gained 2 oz since her last appointment. Her pedi asked how much rice cereal we were giving her ...
