Play it loud just like a rock star!

Let me tell you about our weekend... this past Saturday was my darling Tatum's first birthday. I cannot believe she is already one. I feel like I just carried her up the steps to our home to start our life as a family of 4 together. That morning started out decently but quickly went to crap. I was waiting for my niece to get dropped off to go to Michael.s and look for foam letters to finish up the poster I made starting with Tatum being born and going in 3 month increments to 12 months. I had run out of certain letters & numbers. I also needed to stop and get Tatum a first birthday balloon. Any way I thought my niece was coming for 9:00 but when 9:00 came and went and then 9:30 I was wondering when the heck she was going to be here. I called my parents to see if they were going to be here soon so I could run out and get the stuff I needed. They were on the way. Madison finally arrived and I decided I would leave her in charge of the girls (Tatum had just gone up for a nap) since my mom and dad were going to be here any minute.

I went to Michaels... no letters... shit... I went to Target... no letters... shit... I went to Walmart. They had the letters- I about cried with happiness! But of course because I was in a hurry (because it was like 10:30-10:45 by that point) everyone else was going so friggin slow!! At the check out, driving to the party store for the balloon... even driving home. Gah! I made it back by the start of the party- 11:00. Then another disappointment... my friend Jess got the cake for Tatum (thank you SO much!!) but it wasn't what it was supposed to be. And certainly not how I imagined it after telling the bakery to scrap the original picture (too long & boring to get in to LoL). John pointed out I complained about every cake we've ever had. This is almost true- I did NOT complain about Delilah's cake last year. That one turned out pretty decently.

The party was great though with family & friends that love us so that's all that counts. Tatum was just like her sister... she did not dive in to the cake but at least she didn't cry when I put her hand in it LoL

Sunday we took Delilah to see The Fresh Beat Band in concert. I was so excited as this was her first concert. We listened to their CD all the way there. When we got there we went in & bought her a shirt & a cup (highway robbery if you ask me but worth it!). We found our seats and anxiously awaited for them to start. 10 minutes later than they were supposed to begin (not too smart when you have a concert hall full of toddlers & preschoolers) they came out. And then the crying started. It was too loud for Delilah and she freaked. Thankfully I got her to cover her ears which helped dull the sound & stopped her from crying. She sat like that pretty much the whole time but at least towards the end she kind of uncovered them & was singing along. She said she wants to go see them again. Me too! :-)
